ABOUT RAVEN’S BREW COFFEE:
Long ago, far away, in a seascape of countless islands shrouded in mist and robed in dense forests, Raven’s Brew Coffee came into being. This place is the legendary Alexander Archipelago, also known as Southeast Alaska. The exact locale is the small and isolated town of Ketchikan, the rainiest inhabited place in North America.
At Raven’s Brew Coffee, they recognize that there is an intimate relationship between the land and the people and activities that take place there. They know it’s important to acknowledge and pay respect to the original Peoples of the lands they occupy.
In Ketchikan, Alaska they work on the traditional territories and homelands of the Lingít (Tlingit), Xaadaas (Haida), and Ts’msyen (Tsimshian). Their Washington state facilities in Tumwater and Olympia are on the traditional territories and homelands of the Coast Salish Nations including the Squaxin, Nisqually, and Stl’pulmsh (Cowlitz) People.
One way they support those Native People is by providing direct financial support to the Sealaska Heritage Baby Raven Reads program. The program reflects their values which include early literacy as the foundation for personal growth, lifelong learning, and a means to pass essential knowledge and traditions from one generation to the next.
